SecureCheck — Privacy Policy

SecureCheck is a Chrome browser extension that scans websites for security
vulnerabilities. This policy explains how your data is handled.
Data We Collect
SecureCheck does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data.
- Scan results are stored in memory only and are cleared when the popup is closed.
- Cookie names found during scanning are partially masked before display (e.g. "ses…ke"). Cookie values are never read.
- No browsing history, URLs, or scan results are ever sent to any server.
- No analytics or tracking of any kind is used.
Permissions Used
- activeTab / tabs: To identify the current page being scanned.
- scripting: To run the DOM scanner on the current page to detect security issues in the source code.
- storage: To save your language preference (EN / Traditional Chinese) on your device only.
- cookies (optional): To check cookie security attributes (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite) on the site you are scanning. Requested only when you click Scan, for the current site's origin only. Cookie values are never read.
- Host permission (optional): To fetch HTTP response headers from the site you are scanning. Requested only for the current site's origin at scan time.
Third Parties
SecureCheck does not share any data with third parties.
No external servers, analytics services, or APIs are used.
All scanning happens locally in your browser.
Data Retention
No data is retained. All scan results exist only in memory during the active
session and are discarded when the extension popup is closed.
